One Fish, Two Fish

List #1 January 21, 2008

I don’t know if you knew this about me, but I am a list-maker. I love to cross things off a list as I do them. Before our wedding, I had a little notebook that I carried everywhere, containing the list of the week. I would rewrite and update the list every week with things to do, people to call, etc. Then there were the Day-Before and Day-Of lists that were tweaked in the months before the Big W. So it came as a happy surprise this morning that Rob said, “Today I want to make a list of the things we need to take to the hospital.” My heart jumped for joy — a list! We sat down and typed up the Things to Take to the Hospital list, using resources that we got from the doctor’s office, a list from Pregnancy Weekly online, and our big brains.

It includes such essentials as:

Slippers
Snacks for Rob
iPods x2 with docking station (because we will be the couple that everyone wants to hang out with)
Electronic Yahtzee
Deck of cards x2 (because sometimes you just have to play Solitaire — or War)
Books
Baby outfit
Car seat
Toiletries
Change for the vending machine
Penguin for focal point (Hi Mom!)

The list is long. Really long. I was shocked. If this is a peek at what packing will be like from now on, we’re going to have to start preparing for trips weeks before we leave!

We will gather everything the beginning of April, so that whenever it’s time, we will be, like, soooo prepared.

Kristin- do you like suckers? Some moms-in-waiting get a little sugar strength that way…..

And…if you want to be really, really popular with the docs and nurses, take a little sharing snack for them!

That looks like a great list! Good work!

And, by the way, I can’t even begin to describe how thrilled I would be if Pete actually initiated writing a list together. 🙂

That’s only about 1/8 of the total list! I thought people might experience glassy eyes and uncontrollable drooling if I wrote down the whole thing.

  4. I can soo relate! I still have my lists somewhere, probably with the ancient Chinese birthing chart! Hence the need for sorting, cleaning out and organizing!
