9:30 P.M. — My New Best Friend May 12, 2008

Hi everyone, it’s Kristin. Rob has been faithfully posting updates, because I have been very tired after a long night with little sleep, plus he’s a great guy. 🙂

My new best friend’s name is Dr. Lace. He is the anesthesiologist who put in my epidural. Dr. Whiteside broke my water and things were going just fine, then all of a sudden, things turned on a dime and I was having tons of back pain and nausea from the pain. The combination of the Pitocin and my broken water became so intense so quickly that I could hardly wait for the drugs. 🙂 I am now very comfortable and a happy, happy girl!

I’m really glad that things progressed so we can have this baby. It’s time to meet the little bugger!

Thank you all for the good wishes, thoughts, and prayers today. I am so lucky to be surrounded by so much love and support.

Drugs can be such a wonderful thing!
Isabelle can’t wait to meet the little bugger, too.

    Love you-

  2. So the question is . . . May 12 or May 13?

Oh Kristin…we are so happy to hear your (computer) voice and to know that you are more comfortable. Bless you…Rob…Nancy…and all who are helping you tonight!

Hi Everyone! Kristin is sleeping now. They’ve started the Magnesium and she’s moved through the “weird” and “nauseous” phase of that. She’s about 3 cm at this point so we’re taking bets on what time she’ll deliver. Post your guess (if you’re still up!). I said 5:32. Nancy said 6:23 and Kristin says 7:40. I’m turning in now to get some sleep. Good night to everyone!

I’m going to go with 8:15, but hopefully sooner because I can’t take it anymore! I honestly think I have checked this over 50 times today. I hope you all are able to get some sleep and I will be thinking of you!

    I like 5’s- maybe 5:15 am?

You just convinced me to get an epidural. Thanks for being honest! 🙂

Boy were we all wrong about the time! Once it all got started, it went so fast!! Can’t say I’m unhappy about that. 🙂

Erin, I think if I hadn’t been so jacked up on Pitocin, I totally could have done it without an epidural. The huge dose of Pitocin gave me absolutely no breaks between contractions, plus the baby was posterior, so I was having tons of back pain. I would say, go in with intentions to do it on your own — and reserve the right to change your mind. Or, you know, do whatever, because whatever happens will be perfect. 🙂
