I’ve decided I have a favorite doctor in the clinic. Dr. Williams is so great! It’s like a party when we see her — in a good way, not in the It’s-so-fun-we-don’t-stay-on-track kind of way. She’s just fun.
She was impressed with my blood sugar levels. I even told her that I’m cheating a little bit this week. I feel like once I got it under control, my numbers have been getting better and better. I feel lucky that everything has been controlled by diet and I haven’t had to start any insulin. My blood pressure was ok. The diastolic (bottom number) had creeped up to 82, but it’s been in the high 70’s for a few weeks. No one was concerned.
And my cervix is dilated to 1 cm — and Dr. Williams stripped my membranes today! That procedure releases prostaglandins which help to ripen the cervix even more. Basically, it speeds things along a little bit. It’s not magic. I won’t have a baby tomorrow — at least, I don’t think I will — but it can help advance progress a little bit faster. Gosh, I hope it works! My mom is coming on Monday, so we’ll be set with child care for Sam when the day comes. In the mean time, we make sure the overnight bag is packed and that our friends are sleeping with their cell phones by their beds, just in case.
I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for a single digit birthday. Rob would like me to please wait until Tuesday, because he has to be out of town for a little while on Monday. I’ll do what I can, honey. Promise. 🙂
