A Plan! February 15, 2011

OK, here’s the plan. I will go in to the clinic tomorrow to see if any progress has been made. If there has been progress, we will go in to the hospital Thursday morning for an induction. If there has not been progress, then I will go in tomorrow evening for cervical ripening (I assume that means having Cervadil placed).

This is very exciting! I love having a plan. Love, love, love. And I love that we can tell Sam what to expect so he doesn’t have to wonder whether we’re going to be in our beds in the morning. I’m so grateful that Mom and Drew are here to take care of Sam and help out with whatever comes up. Plus, it’s been fun. And we like fun. 🙂

Week 39

Honestly, I never thought I’d make it to week 39. Really. I thought for sure that this baby would be so huge that my cervix would just say, “Forget it. I’m done.” And let go and I’d already have a newborn at HOME. In my ARMS. But noooooo, this baby is lodged squarely in my belly, content as can be, with seemingly zero immediate plans to vacate. I’m going to have to call the landlord and have her evicted.

Speaking of landlords, I actually did call the clinic last week to have them talk about an induction. I mean, she’s only getting fatter in there. Development’s done! If I don’t hear back by this afternoon, I’m going to call again and see if there’s any news. Yes, I’m going to be that patient that bugs them until I get a response. I like to call it “advocating for myself” as opposed to “being really annoying to the medical staff.” My glass is half full.

So stay tuned. Maybe there will be news! (Also, don’t hold your breath. I don’t want anyone passing out at the computer.)
